1. Alignment between what an organization needs to achieve – the business’ strategic objectives - and how they’re going to get there.

2. Then there is the baseline assessment to your cyber risk framework of choice.

3. Then build cyber security into the DNA as part of the culture of your organization.

There are so many ways to do security wrong. A ‘check-the-box’ approach is one of them. Another uninformed approach is to view cyber security as an abstract, or secondary element of the organization, then needing to come in reactively to fix the situation and clean up the mess reactively.
