Mr Picardo said he would campaign for the Act to be supported in a public referendum next year, arguing Gibraltar needs a law designed for the 21st century.
He reiterated the Government's position that the current abortion laws are unconstitutional and contravene human rights by disallowing abortion on the grounds of fatal foetal abnormality, rape and incest.
GBC's Christina Cortes asked him why, if he believes Gibraltar is obliged to pass this law and that this is worded in the only way to cater for those specific circumstances, it now has to be put to a referendum.
