USA: Thurman vows to 'disappear' Pacquiao in welterweight boxing bout

USA: Thurman vows to 'disappear' Pacquiao in welterweight boxing bout Filipino boxer and politician Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten welterweight champion Keith Thurman confirmed they will get in the ring together to fight for the WBC Welterweight World Title on July 20th, during a press conference in New York City on Monday.

Speaking to journalists, Thurman (29-0, 22 KOs) made clear his plans to retire Pacquiao after this fight. "I'm here, I'm going to make a big statement, you are not going to want to miss this fight, especially because it's going to be this man's last fight," said Thurman, adding that "He will disappear. He announced him[self] as a senator; he belongs as a senator, in the Philippines."

Responding to the threats, the 40-year-old Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs) said he was excited at not being the favourite for the clash. "I like that I'm the underdog for this fight, this gives me more motivation and encouragement to focus and work hard and training," he said.

"This is fun and this is what I want. Sometimes I became careless and confident because I'm always the favourite in every fight, but this time around it is different," he added.

The welterweight title consolidation fight will take place on July 20 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
