The government has challenged small scale avocado farmers in the country to join groups such as cooperative societies in order to sell their produce easily to the export market. Export Promotion Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Biwott says the linkage will enable the farmers have bargaining power while at the same time easily adhere to requirements needed for the export market. This follows concerns that China had imposed stringent rules which will see farmers peel and freeze avocado fruits ahead of exports.
