It was forced to retreat by Indian Navy. Indian Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh, during his address on Navy Day, said that China's presence in the Indian Ocean Region is increasing and we are constantly watching it. He said that on an average about seven to eight Chinese ships are available in this area, some under the anti-piracy escort group and some doing scientific research.

Indian Ocean Region (IOR) has become a centre of rivalry between India and China. China is looking for more access to Indian ocean. It has increased its presence in the region. Presence of China's warships and submarines has increased in recent years. The aggressive naval strategy that China is implementing in South China Sea and East China Sea is also being implemented in Indian Ocean. Chinese navy is growing faster than any other naval fleet. China has become a dominant force in Pacific ocean, where United States was once an unchallenged force. China is dominating the ocean all over. India has to strengthen its maritime power to counter China.
