How to Replace the Base Enclosure | HP ENVY 15-ae000, ah000 Notebook PC | HP

Learn how to replace the base enclosure for the HP ENVY 15-ae000, ah000 Notebook PC.

Note: The following video depicts a specific configuration of the notebook. The same removal and replacement procedures apply to all configurations of the notebook.
Before you begin: Remove the optical drive (if installed).
Removal:
Remove the four 4 mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the base enclosure to the top cover.
Remove the eight 6 mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the base enclosure to the top cover.
If an optical drive was installed, remove the two 2 mm P1 Phillips broad-head screws that secure the base enclosure to the top cover.
Starting on the side with Kensington lock bracket, carefully separate the edges of the base enclosure from the top cover.
CAUTION! To prevent damage to the base enclosure, take extreme care when separating the area around the optical drive bay from the top cover.
Lift the base enclosure off of the top cover and remove.
Replacement:
Place the base enclosure into position on the top cover.
Apply pressure to the edges of the base enclosure to snap it into place.
If an optical drive was installed, replace the two 2 mm P1 Phillips broad-head screws that secure the base enclosure to the top cover.
Replace the eight 6 mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the base enclosure to the top cover.
Replace the four 4 mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the base enclosure to the top cover.

Caution: Improperly installing or replacing parts could damage your HP device or void your warranty. Before replacing any parts, check your warranty.
