The title is a touch of clickbait with a lot of truth. Elm is one of those woods that is often overlooked. Probably a reason for that is that since the advent of Dutch Elm Disease most elms die off soon after the bark gets rough. It is a truly sad thing, especially since mature elm has some beautiful grain and it is a very strong wood. Slabs of this size have become difficult to find and at times command a high price because of the rarity of finding it.
