The disease was earlier considered to be a rare occurrence until the implications of urbanisation and Changes in Life style increased its prevalence.
This however has resulted to many Nigerians becoming victims of foot amputation, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, heart attack and even eventual death.
Worried by this trend, the endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism unit of the National Hospital, Abuja while commemorating the 2019 world diabetes day in collaboration with other health stakeholders organized free health screening and diabetes awareness campaign.
