BREXIT Boris Johnson keeps EU in suspense, PM postpones his answer for nomination of UK Commissioner

BREXIT Boris Johnson keeps EU in suspense, PM postpones his answer for nomination of UK Commissioner The European Commission has said that Britain is legally bound to nominate a European Commissioner.

Incoming European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has written a letter to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, asking him to nominate a (female) European Commissioner "in the shortest time possible".

But the European Commission is still waiting for Johnson's answer.

Heightening the pressure, the European Union has repeated it's request and urged the United Kingdom to abide by it's legal commitments.

Any UK commissioner would have to stand down on the next scheduled Brexit day, 31 January, unless another delay is agreed.
