How to pronounce words that end in -ate! #English #ESL #Americanpronunciation

This is an important pronunciation pattern in English. Some words are pronounced a certain way based on their part of speech. In this video I show you how to pronounce words that end in ate based on their part of speech.
As a rule of thumb, the -ate in words that are nouns or adjectives is reduced and in verbs is pronounced like”8”.
Some examples are: separate, moderate, elaborate, appropriate, articulate, graduate and animate.
