In this video, we will talk about how to say “famous person”, “famous city” and “home town” in Chinese.
And we will give some examples to teach you
how to use them in daily Chinese conversation.
The first one, famous person, in Chinese,
is “名人 (míngrén)”，
“名人” means a famous person; celebrity.
The word "名 (míng)" in this phrase means “著名 (zhùmíng) famous.”
“人 (rén)” means person.
So “名人 (míngrén)” means “a famous person”. Easy?
Jiē xiàlái ràng wǒmen yī qǐlái xuéxí “míngrén” zài zhōngwén lǐmiàn de yìngyòng.
接下来让我们一起来学习“名人”在中文里面的应用。
Let's check some examples so you can know how to properly use the word：
Example 1:
Míngrén zhuānfǎng
名人专访
talk show
Example 2:
Lìshǐ míngrén
历史名人
great names in history.
Example 3:
Anna yīxià biàn chéng míngrénle.
Anna一下变成名人了。
Anna became a celebrity overnight.
The second one is, “famous city 名城” or we say “著名(的)城市 (Zhùmíng (de) chéngshì)”
Example 1:
Niǔyuē shì shìjiè shàng zhùmíng de chéngshì.
纽约是世界上著名的城市。
New York is a famous city in the world.
Example 2:
Zhōngguó yǒu nǎxiē zhùmíng de chéngshì?
中国有哪些著名的城市？
What are the famous cities in China?
There is also a common Chinese phrase“名胜 (míng shèng)”
which has a similar meaning to the word “名城 famous city”.
名胜 (Míngshèng): a place famous for its scenery or historical relics;
scenic spot.
3. Home town
In Chinese, we say “家乡(jiāxiāng)” or “故乡 (gùxiāng)”.
A common phrase is “家乡话 (jiāxiāng huà) native dialect.”
Let's check some examples to learn how to use this phrase in Chinese:
Zǒng yǒu yītiān wǒ huì huí dào jiāxiāng.
总有一天我会回到家乡。
It means:
I can come back to my hometown someday.
Jack de jiāxiāng zhǐshì yīgè xiǎochéng.
Jack的家乡只是一个小城。
It means:
Jack’s hometown is just a small town.
And I have a question for you:
Nǐ de jiāxiāng zài nǎlǐ?
你的家乡在哪里？
where is your hometown?
