“In 21 years, this is a first – a plane landed on Pacific Avenue,” Washington State Trooper Clint Thompson told local media on August 1, shortly after a plane came down over his vehicle in Parkland, Washington, to make an emergency landing. A spokesperson for the Washington State Patrol, Trooper Johnna Batiste, said Thompson “was able to make an emergency U-turn, activate his lights, and slow traffic, making room for the pilot to land safely.”

No one was hurt in the incident, according to Batiste. She said the emergency landing was prompted by a fuel-system malfunction in the single-prop KR2 plane. Troopers pushed the plane off the road, she said.
