Majority of emergency visits for firework injuries are for the eyes CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The majority of emergency visits for injuries related to fireworks are for eye injuries.

Those fireworks that usually injure our eyes can be anything from bottle rockets to sparklers.

David Monder of Prevent Blindness Ohio talked to Local 12 and talk more about the injuries.

Prevent Blindness wants people to keep the fireworks to the professionals. The organization said as many as one in every five of the injuries reported that they track are to the eyes.

"You can see we have examples of shrapnel and injuries from a bottle rocket, we have a torn iris and we have a rupture of the cornea. This is just a sampling of the injuries that take place and they are obviously life-changing and its something we want to avoid," Monder said.
