Crucial P1 500 GB NVME M.2-2280 SSD Solid State Drive Review

Crucial P1 500 GB NVME M.2-2280 SSD Solid State Drive Review Crucial P1 500 GB NVME M.2-2280 SSD

Is it right for you?
Well here is what you get:
The drive uses QLC (Quad Level Cell) technology
It uses the M.2 2280 Form Factor
It has a PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 Interface
You can expect sequential read of up to 2000 MB/s and write speeds up to 1750 MB/s
On my own system though, the write speeds often lag.

Use Crucial's Storage Executive software and you can activate momentum cash to greatly improve drive performance, but it is recommended that you have battery backup on your computer before using the momentum cash. That's because momentum cash leaves the drive vulnerable to corruption in the event of an unexpected power loss.

The drive comes with a limited 5-Year Warranty valid from the original date of purchase or before writing the drive's maximum total bytes written which is 200TB for the 500 gigabyte version.

The drive does not come with a mounting screw, so make sure you have one that came with your motherboard.

The verdict:
The Crucial P1 NVME solid state drive works well as a computer's main drive and performs light years beyond an old fashion disk hard drive. There are faster NVME drives available, such as in the Samsung evo series but for most people the p1 is plenty powerful.
