Bunder or the Old Port, is a landmark in the city of Mangalore with dozens of trawl boats bringing in marine wealth of all kinds. Heaps of freshly caught prawns, clams, crabs, squid, an abode of different varieties of fish is up for auction day in and day out.
Locals including vendors of hotels and restaurants flock to this forever bustling market to purchase seafood at affordable prices. Fresh stocks of tiger and zebra prawns, seer fish, octopus, blue sea crab, prawns, lizard fish, pomfret, and other fishes locally called batfish, madmal, and a type of green lipped mussel were on sale on this day.
